The concept for the Austin hotel was informed by the hill country’s abundant nature.
The concept for the project comes from the appreciation of Austin’s natural landscape and regional architectural influences. Offering a nod to arcades of the past, a modern colonnade in the main lobby provides a sculptural repetitive form enhanced with integrated up-lighting. In its modern aesthetic, this hotel speaks to an approachable atmosphere supplying a sense of ease. The vivid past that is present in the forward motion of this great city is authentically honest in the design approach.
At the entrance, floor to ceiling geometric metal screens create a boundary while giving a visual connection to the active areas in the distance. Decorative chandeliers made of metal and rope provide sparkle to the space and texture to the ceiling. Provoking an understanding of the hotel’s location and vivid past, these architectural moves further build an appreciation for Austin.
As an Associate of Simeone Deary Design Group, Shilpa oversaw the design development and implementation. Seeing the project successfully through to completion, Shilpa wore many hats in delivering the design.

Increasing the dimensionality of the interiors, local graffiti-style artists were invited to provide artistic visuals of earthy tones with intense colors, deep greens, teal, and maroons. Accents of gold were incorporated to add balance and warmth to the palette. Referencing nature, art patterns came from organic influences within the area. One exceptional element providing a cohesiveness to the design is the cracked earth graphic patterning that travels from the lobby to the guestrooms.
This 600-guest key hotel is comprised of 4 bar venues, including an amenity roof deck pool/bar/event space and fitness area. Inspired by a desert oasis, the amenity deck provides an escape to the outdoors where views are stunning, and cocktails are memorable. This hotel with its imaginative art moments, lively food & beverage venues, delivers locals and guests a one-of-a-kind Austin destination.
